I have been noticing this issue when coming into round-abouts at various speeds. Many towns & cities are putting in round-abouts for traffic flow. Many highways now have round-abouts at the exits. It is scary to know that the steering could cause a serious accident & cause serious injury or death. The issue is that periodically the power steering system stops working and you must manually turn the steering wheel. However, it was not repaired in all vehicles.

She said Honda knows of it and what they did was to extend the original warranty on the vehicles to 100,000 miles to repair it. During the call, I described this steering issue to the rep.

Recently, with the fuel pump recall, I called into Honda directly regarding the fuel pump. I have looked at different complaint websites and see this a lot. This is a very serious safety issue! I tried to contact Honda via email once we began to notice it and got no reply. It also happens when driving into round-abouts. This happens when slowing down to make turns in normal driving settings. This continues to be an on-going issue and is happening at various speeds and at various times. We noticed this issue within a few days of owning it. We bought this van at the end of September, 2012. This is a serious safety issue and perhaps Honda needs some government help to be forced to deal with this issue that continues to plague their vehicles with a dangerous situation that needs corporate action to remedy. I think Honda should replace the defective pump under warranty as this is not a new issue for them and I personally have had two of these vehicles since 2007 that have had a bad pump. Honda will not replace their known defective pump under warranty because the car has over 36k miles.
#2011 HONDA ODYSSEY POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT DRIVER#
It usually recovers quickly but if I were not an experienced driver I would have been in two accidents because of this problem already. I about got hit the first time as I was turning around on a main road and the steering just quit, no power steer at all. It is random and without warning all of a sudden I can't steer without great effort. I currently have a 2013 Odyssey that has 41000 miles on it and once again the pump started e steering has given out twice in the last week. Previous models have all failed under warranty. I have owned six Honda Odyssey's and the last three starting with the 2007 model all needed to have a new power steering pump because it starts to whine and not pump well.
